Dissemination of Sustainable Whiteleg Shrimp Farming Practices for GEDSI Groups in Dadap Village, Sambelia, East Lombok

Abstract
GEDSI groups in coastal areas still face limited access to information, training, technology, and decision-making in productive economic activities, including whiteleg shrimp farming. This community service activity aimed to improve the knowledge and understanding of GEDSI groups in Dadap Village, Sambelia District, East Lombok Regency, regarding sustainable, inclusive, and environmentally friendly whiteleg shrimp farming practices. The target partners consisted of 50 participants, including women, men, persons with disabilities, young people, and other social groups. The activity was implemented through several stages, including preparation and needs assessment, a pre-test, socialization, participatory discussions, technical demonstrations, a post-test, and evaluation. The materials covered GEDSI concepts, water quality management, post-larvae selection, feed management, biosecurity, disease prevention, production record-keeping, and waste management. Qualitatively, participants showed active involvement during discussions and demonstrations and were able to identify the roles of GEDSI groups in aquaculture activities. Quantitatively, the participants’ mean knowledge score increased from 32 to 72, representing an improvement of 40 points. All participants were able to identify at least three sustainable aquaculture practices and considered the activity beneficial. This activity strengthened participants’ basic knowledge, although further technical assistance and site suitability assessments are still required before whiteleg shrimp farming can be developed.
