Peer Review Process
All manuscripts submitted to the Journal of Engineering, Environment and Disaster undergo a rigorous peer – review process to ensure academic quality, clarity, and originality. The review process consists of several stages:
Initial Editorial Screening
The editorial team conducts a preliminary check of the manuscript regarding compliance with the journal’s template, writing style, and language quality (grammar, clarity, and coherence). Manuscripts that do not follow the journal’s formatting guidelines or contain significant language issues may be returned to the authors for revision before further review.
Focus and Scope Evaluation
The editor assesses whether the submitted manuscript fits within the focus and scope of the journal, covering topics in engineering, environment, and disaster management. Manuscripts outside the journal’s scope will be rejected at this stage.
Plagiarism and Similarity Check
A similarity index check is conducted using plagiarism detection software. Manuscripts with high similarity percentages (above the acceptable threshold) will be returned to the authors for revision or rejected, depending on the severity.
Peer Review by Experts
Manuscripts that pass the initial checks are sent to at least three independent reviewers with expertise in the relevant field. The reviewers evaluate the manuscript based on novelty, scientific contribution, methodological, results and discussion, and overall quality of presentation. Reviewers also assess whether the manuscript provides new insights, original findings, or innovative approaches.
Decision
Based on the reviewer feedback, the editor makes one of the following decisions: accept without revision, accept with minor revisions, revise and resubmit (major revisions), or reject. Authors are required to respond to reviewers comments and revise their manuscript accordingly.
Final Check and Publication
The revised manuscript undergoes a final editorial review to ensure that all revisions are addressed, the language is clear, the template is followed, and the similarity index is acceptable.
